Tour de Mayen 2326.4m

More massive than the Tour d'Ai but not quite so impregnable. Its

main features are the enormous overhanging N face and, on its S

side, the splendid cliff called the Diamant. It has a fine triangular

shape and is situated above the Lac de Mayen.

The Diamant cliff is about 130m high and faces S. On the L side is

the Petit Tour and L again is a short wall which has numerous

possibilities. The rock is excellent and several of the routes here

127   have become classics. Some routes are completely equipped with in

128   situ gear and others partially so. As usual carry wedges and

34    camming devices.

35    The crag is most easily reached by using the lift from Leysin

to Mayen (on foot this takes about 75min) then descend to the lake

and reach the cliff in about 5 min.
