200 NORTH-WEST FACE
D B Weibel,
The route climbs direct to the summit, mostly snom/ice but with a rock
barrier to cross.
D- O Williamson with R Lochmatter and J Militre,
This is a nice short ice climb (556) starting from the col between the
Lauterbrunnen Wetterhorn and the Tschingelhorn. There is sometimes a
large bergschrund.

75 This climbs from the Wetterliiche which is reached by Route 191. The
rid ge starts with rock and finishes with snow.
This is a long snow crest with a few rock outcrops between the
L6tschental and Gasteretal which can be crossed almost anywhere
in either direction. A roam along the crest is easy but quite
rewarding for the views.
F From Heimritz in the Gasterental take the path leading NE to
Pt 2411.3m then via the Alpetli glacier get onto the Kanderfirn and
continue NE to about 2550 m. Turn S and climb loose rock and/or
snow slopes as far as Pt 2719.3m. Continue SE, on easy snow slopes,
to the crest which is reached near Pt 3207m (a start from the
Mutthorn hut shortens the day considerably). 4-5hr
A walk SW along the crest over the Birghorn and Elwertasch
to the col NE of the Sackhorn can be made, before crossing the
Tennbach glacier under the Sackhorn to reach the top of the
chairlift at Gandegg, SE of the Hockenhorn, by way of the Milibach
glacier. Descend by the path to the E of the chairlift to Holz and
then use the cablecar to Wiler or take the path to Blatten from
Lauchernalp (Berghaus). Alternatively descend from the ridge onto
the Telli glacier in the direction of the Tellispitza. Go down the W
side of the spur running SW from the highest point (3082m) to the
path leading down Im Tellin to Blatten. 2.5 hr
A return to the Gasteretal can be made by way of the Lotschenpass.
