Biitlasse 3192m

C Montadon, 26 Aug 1877

A modest summit, with an impressive S wall, situated N of the

Gspattenhorn hut. The W ridge, which forms the upper edge of the

S face, makes a reasonably pleasant outing at grade III (some

shattered rock).

288   WEST RIDGE

AD-   E Kochliand L Mani, 8 July 1934

From the Gspaltenhorn hut follow a track round onto the lower part

of the ridge at Tragegg. Climb the easy angled ridge (rock and grass)

to the first small step. Climb this by a chimney and continue to a

taller step. Climb this, by an S-shaped chimney, to a platform then

go straight up over some small overhangs. The next high stepis

vertical on all sides and is started on the L of the ridge (good holds)

followed by grooves and a chimney.

A fairly horizontal section leads to yet another step. Keep on

the crest for this then climb the next one on the S side. The

following step is climbed by a 30m high wall on well spaced holds

and leads to a deep gap. Descend into this then follow the crest

(loose rock) to another gap. The step above the gap can be taken

direct or on the N side and leads to a final snowy section. 4-5hr

A very easy climb that any fit walker could undertake. Worth climbing

for the summit views.

From Griesalp follow the way marked track to the Sefinenfurgge (2612m). Just before the last steep slope turn S and cross scree

Slopes to the broad ridge running due W from the Vordere Butlasse,

Which ends at the col E of Pt. 2631.5m A vague track leads up this

Ridge to the main ridge which is followed, over the Vordere

Butlasse, to the summit. The last part is on snow 5-6 hr.
